Meghan M

This playing card I spoke of in the last entry is what determined who my partner would be for a project that is worth forty five percent of my final grade. Swell. So, after me and the other Ace found each other, we were given our topic..children in the media? More of that to come. Anyway, so my group partner and I exchanged our names, numbers and other contact information in an effort to be as least awkward as possible. I told her my name (Meghan Burke), my cell number, and also where I was living on campus. She gave me the same information about herself, and there we sat waiting for further instruction. At this point in time my mind began to wander, and I was no longer focused at all with what was going on around me. I heard the professor say something about telling him our first names and first initial. I assumed it was for him to keep track of who was partnered with who, but that was about all I got out of it. His eyes scanned the room and met with mine, and it was then he motioned for me to give my name. I became so flustered at the fact that I wasn’t paying attention, but was too embarrased to ask what we were doing. Afterall, I was one of the last in the class to go which means in the whole span of time the other twenty or so students gave their first name and first initial, I was unable to grasp the concept. So, as he motioned for me to give my first name and first initial, I did just that. “Meghan…M.” M was after all the first initial of my first name, but as soon as I told him my name was Meghan M I realized I had made a moronic mistake. I wasn’t supposed to give him my first name and the initial of my first name, for that was too needless. How else would you spell Meghan without M being the first initial? By first initial he meant first initial of my last name. So there I was, left feeling rather impotent, in a class amongst sophmores. When I left class that day I laughed out loud at the thought of what had just happened. I wonder what my group partner must have thought in hearing me tell the whole class my name was Meghan M, even after I had just informed her my name was Meghan Burke. I also wonder if I’ll be getting a grade at the end of the semester, or if my professor will be wondering who Meghan M is when it comes time to post grades.
