Tomato Saver

The other day while paroosing the produce section of the food store I came across a product that caused me to chuckle at first glance. A “tomato saver” as it’s called resembled the likings of an easter egg: plastic and round in shape. Now I guess you could use it to fill with candy just as you do an easter egg, but the tomato like features and size make it apparent it’s to be used to keep tomatoes fresh. I was at first a little hesitant to place the tomato saver in my basket, for fear of it proving to be superfluous. I do however LOVE tomatoes, and quite frankly I am tired of them going bad after only a few days. As I sat there in the food store trying to decide if this tomato saver was worth the $3.00 (3 beers at mug night), I thought about the endless possibilities this product could entail. No longer would I have to worry about eating my tomatoes within the first three days of buying them, and no longer would I be forced to google recipes using rotten tomatoes (okay I don’t necessarily do this, but it could spark some interesting food for thought). So, after much deliberation I decided to purchase the tomato saver, and was anxious to see how efficient it would be in keeping my tomatoes ripe. I’m happy to report a week later, my tomatoes are as fresh as they were the day I bought them. For I couldn’t be more ecstatic about it, because after all, there’s little choice in rotten tomatoes.
